Bhagavad Gita 1 Vishadayoga

Arjuna Vishada yoga

“Anantha sasthram     Bahuvedithavyam,

Alpacha kaloo bahavacha vigna

Thath saarabhutham thadupasithavyam

Hamso yahdaa ksheera mibambumishra,”

That is --

“Science is vast and described vividly

Time very little and hurdles so much.

To learn all of it do; like a swan drink

Only milk from the mix aqua-milk.”

There are so many texts of epics and science, the time granted for study is limited. Therefore we should choose the essence; like how a swan separates milk from water and drink.  Great sage Vyasa has extracted the essence from all Vedas and Upanishads and composed the Bhagavad Gita for the spiritual seekers.

In the first chapter it describes the Pandavas and the Kawravas deciding to fight for their claim on the country’s reign. The army of these cousins arrayed face to face in the famous battle field Kurukshetra. The Kuru’s grand sir Bhishma blew a conch symbolically announcing the war. Shri Krishna and Arjuna blew conches in replay; accepting the war.  Arjuna requested his charioteer Krishna to lead him to the centre of the array so as to see his opponents.

Arjuna saw his beloved Grand father, Bhishma, most respected master Drona, and many dear friends and relatives; seeing which he was dejected, stupefied and in great sorrow and distress. He forgot his duty.  He refused to fight saying; “these hands are to protect the beloved; so I will never harm them.” Saying so; with tears in eyes he casted his arms away and sat stupefied and in sorrow. Then Krishna rejuvenated him with wise dialogues which are quoted as Bhagavad Gita... 18 chapters each a Yoga, techniques. Krishna says--

“Rise up Partha !  Oh Foe-foiler    Do not yield to impotency.

As it does not befit thee, so;    Cast- off weakness of thy heart”.

Thus the situation of the Mahabharat war depicted by sage Vyasa and the background of Arjuna’s Grief, Arjuna’s Vishada Yoga narrated.

Such a situation of sorrow and dejection occurs in every body’s life. Then some people with utter disgust commit suicide; some may lose the power for reaction and become insane. There are rare, who face the consequence accepting it as the wish of god. The wise and lucky; share the problem with the near and dear or elders and find a way out. At such situations, some stick to their ego; and end in doom.  It is the time for introspection and to find a help or guidance. Thus great grief in life may shatter the ego of man and lead him to introspection and surrender to the Almighty.

Here; Arjuna was very lucky. He got the great Guru, the Lord of Yoga Shri Krishna himself as his master & guide. Sri Krishna initiated Arjuna with Gita the spiritual teachings having 18 secret Yoga’s to remove his delusion. Those who listen to this song of yoga (gita) will be luckier than Arjuna; because they are learning the secrets of all Yoga; without suffering any Grief- Vishada yoga. Those who learn the forth coming yoga can overcome all stress and confusions in life and they will never fail or commit suicide; they will face problems calmly.

Bhagavad gita is the essence of all epics and Vedas and Upanishads. Mahamuni Ved Vyasa briefed the unfathomable spiritual Bhagavad gita to benefit the aspirants. The Gita is to be read regularly; daily and to be reread and pondered and analysed as it have deep hidden meaning; and should be searched as it is secret. Gita is to be read daily as Gita is purifying and destroys the sins of the Kaliyuga the present aeon. It will provide all wealth (Purusharthas) and offers Moksha; liberation from death and birth. So it is very divine. I salute Mahamuni Lord Ved Vyas for authoring great Gita  and Lord Shri Krisna for revealing this treasure of knowledge, the grace and blessing of him itself will grand and light the knowledge eternal in the heart of the aspirant. I pray and salute Shri Hari and Krishna, pray and wish all the aspirants to get enlighten; which will fulfil my life’s purpose. Again I, pray and salute Shri Hari and Krishna. I am not religious; but spiritual so, I, recommend Gita as it is a  wonderful tool to make your life meaningful.
